Join Friends of The Quilt for an unforgettable Red Tie Affair this Saturday, January 17, at WJCT Studios (100 Festival Park Avenue, 32202) at 7 PM. This year’s theme, “Every Name Has a Story: Honoring Children Lost to AIDS,” invites our community into a night of remembrance, resilience, and healing.
We are honored to welcome Glenn Stewart, returning to the Red Tie stage with a special performance nearly a decade in the making.
Our special guest, **Brandon Montanez—born HIV positive—**will share words of encouragement and reflection, reminding us of the enduring power of community, compassion, and shared humanity.
Your host for the evening, Derreck Odom, brings charisma, voice, and energy to guide us from deep reflection into a celebration filled with meaning, movement, and hope.
And to carry us through the night, DJ Mike Bitar will set the tone with years of creative talent and special mixes crafted in dedication to our children and in honor of a beloved friend from the Dab the AIDS Bear Project.
Join us as we honor the past, uplift the present, and celebrate the strength of our community

Friends of The Quilt envisions a future where the AIDS Memorial Quilt serves as a powerful symbol of remembrance, compassion, and unity. Our vision is to support and expand the impact of this memorial, ensuring it becomes a cornerstone for community-driven healthcare and awareness. We aim to weave a tapestry of support that extends beyond the quilt, embracing those affected by HIV/AIDS and creating a world where commemoration and care go hand in hand.
Friends of The Quilt is guided by three essential pillars:
- Education: Fostering awareness and understanding through powerful and impactful initiatives.
- Prevention: Implementing proactive measures to halt the spread of HIV/AIDS.
- Eradication: Striving for a future where the quilt not only symbolizes the end of AIDS/HIV but also inspires a collective commitment to eliminate the stigma associated with the disease.
Friends of The Quilt stands as a tribute, advocating for empathy, dissolving stigma, and making comprehensive support a cornerstone in the global fight against this relentless epidemic.
